Well, a week or so ago I ran an idea past the wife regarding my salary should I be elected as MP next year. We both agree if I am elected for the Enfield and Southgate, constituency, I will only take half my salary. This was initiated by Mr Davies when he took office as our Mayor of Doncaster.
Each month 50% of wages will be divided into two very good causes. One will be a local charity which will be voted for by local people and will change each year. The other I will re-invest back into the English Democrats. This could be used in a number of ways. For example, we may decide to set up an English charity which could help English businesses. Or we could designate funds to help university students. Alternatively, it could be used to fund a fledgling party member who wishes to stand in an election to supply them with promotional material etc.

This Idea has been welcomed by other candidates standing for us next year, who are all following suit.

Other news: At the Labour party conference Mr Brown has said they are committed to holding a referendum on a voting reform should they win the next election. (laughing now) I am sure that Tony Blair said something about holding a referendum on the Lisbon treaty didn’t they?

Elsewhere, Ireland is getting ready for its second vote on the Lisbon treaty. Since the last vote was ‘NO’ the EU has pumped millions of Euro's to the ‘yes’ campaign. They have warned the Irish that the only way out of the current financial climate is to vote ‘yes’. Let’s hope the Irish can see through this and vote ‘NO’ for a second time!

Before I go, I have been asked to supply a link to an England page not affiliated to the English Democrats. When I last looked it had about 212 members. The page discuses English issues so please take a look.
